policing....

looks like the school district now wants us to be *police officers* on camps as well....  new rule.... students are NOT to have energy drinks on campus.  yep, the school board is getting ready to pass a rule on that.... hmmmmmm....

okay, let's look at this a couple of ways.  as a parent, i don't allow my boyz to drink them [though i know they do].... kids don't need the xtra caffeine and *buzz*, especially at 0800 hrs. so yeah, i can see why the district is putting its foot down.  but.... as a *teacher*, who am i to tell a kid what he can or can't drink? i'm not his parent... i don't make the family rules to follow.... sheit, i have a hard enough time with getting kids to understand basic morales [lying, cheating, stealing, swearing] and respect in the classroom, and now i have to *police* them when they're drinking a *Monster* on campus? puleeeze.... that's like telling them they can't drink a starbucks in the morning, have a coke at lunch, that they should eat lunch, that they shouldn't eat that donut cuz their already too fat, and that gum is bad for their braces.... how do you argue w. "my mom lets me drink them" or "my mom bought it for me on the way to school"?

when do parents take responsibility for their kids? like making sure they get to school on time, that their wearing age appropriate clothing, that they are respectful to adults, and yeah, making sure they take care of their bodies? all too often, parents drop their kids off, and then we, the school, become responsible for all of their actions and *upbringing*.... i don't think so..... i love the line "we just don't know how to control johnny, can't you do something?"  as much as i will ALWAYS be there for your kid..... i ain't taking over your role as parent..... so grow up, take responsibility for your kid, and let me do what i do best.....

oh, and next time you stop @ the store in the morning, buy ME a Monster!
